Understanding Diversity

The Nature and Realities of Discrimination
Using specifically invited guests in order to take a realistic and perhaps harsh look at the effects of discrimination on individuals and communities, and highlighting the fact that nature is often the same even if the underlying reasons seem to be different.

Focus on Religion, Culture and Sexual Orientation
A specific look at how sometimes culture and religion are mistakenly seen as interchangeable, while looking practically at situations where, for example, the laws against discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation may be seen to contradict the laws on discrimination on the grounds of religion or freedom of worship.

An Overview of the Existing, New and Emerging Laws on Discrimination in Employment
These cover the areas of Age, Disability, Sexual Orientation, Faith & Religion, Gender and Race

Looking at Good/Best Practice
Case studies and examples of good preparation from relevant organisations.

Organisational Overview
A baseline assessment of the participating organisations in order to identify obvious weaknesses that may presently or in the future hamper dealing with issues of diversity and taking on and implementing best practice.
